I have heard of his name for the longest time, since I was a young boy, spoken with much respect and love. This was because he did so much for the United States. Till today, he is still much loved and remembered as one of the most influential and inspirational African-American leaders in the history of USA.
Who is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.?
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and social activist. He was a prominent spokesperson and leader for the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. He championed this through non-violent activism. He chose to do it this way because he was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.
He helped to end the segregation of African Americans in the South and other parts of the United States. Sadly, he was assassinated in 1968.
Before his death, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

This is a great post and even though Martin Luther King Jr. has passed his legend lives on and he continues moving forward. In 1983, fifteen years after his death the Federal Government of the US declared the 3rd Monday in January to celebrate his life and accomplishments and a day to remember what he stood for. I would say that is someone that was always moving forward no matter what it takes.
Thanks Dena. Glad you found this post a great one.
Yes, Martin Luther King is a great man. A true legend. Even here in Asia, we have heard of him. And many of his wise words have been quoted here, too.
I wish the 3rd Monday in January would be a public holiday in the whole world, to remember this wonderful man.
