Hi Everyone! Previously, I published a blog post about my late uncle visiting from Pritiloka, the world of ancestors. The blog post also mentioned Swami Muktananda.

One of the subscribers on the Flowing Love Meditation YouTube channel, Tiffany Twisted, was intrigued by my mention of Swami Muktananda. She requested for me to share more about Baba Muktananda.

I was delighted that there was interest in Baba Muktananda, and of course I answered that I would do so in future videos and blog posts. But for the past month or so, I was busy creating course content for a new university degree course.

But, I kept in mind my promise to share more about Swami Muktananda and his teachings. But, how to tell this story? Where do I begin? And then I thought of How I Learned of Swami Muktananda and The Blue Pearl?

I recalled how it happened, and today I would like to share that story with you.

First Time I heard of the Blue Pearl

Years ago, in the early 2000s, I met a nice young couple from Canada. They were also into spiritual stuff and meditation. We would hang out often, and talk about spiritual stuff.

One day, at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the husband of this couple, let’s call him G, talked about the Blue Pearl. He said he recently learned about the Blue Pearl and would like to see it one day.

Having heard this, I was curious, and asked him what was the blue pearl? He proceeded to describe it as a small blue ball of light that one sees when meditating.

At the same time, he said that not everyone gets to see it. From what he learned, only those who are more spiritually advanced can see it.

I was a little surprised by the information from G. You see, for months before that day, I had been seeing Blue light during my meditations.

The Blue Light and The Blue Pearl

During meditations, with my eyes closed, I would see this beautiful blue light fill the space in the darkness before me. After some time, I started to see a small ball of blue light in the middle of that blue light.

I mentioned my experience to G. Both him and his wife’s eyes widened. They said it was amazing that I experienced that.

And G said that, according to what he learned, before the Blue Pearl appeared, one would see blue light. And the fact that he did not tell me that, and I mentioned it proved it really was happening to me.

Then he recommended me to read this book – Play of Consciousness by Swami Muktananda. Without giving away too much, he encouraged me to read the book. He said it will explain about the Blue light and the blue Pearl.

I was very grateful. For a long time I had seen the blue light and blue pearl, and wondered what it was all about. So, I bought the book. And this is what it looked like.

Immediately after the book came into my possession, I went through the table of contents. I found the chapter about The Blue Pearl. Of course, I read that chapter immediately. Here’s what it said.

“Now my meditation went beyond the black light to the Blue Pearl. As soon as I sat down to meditate, there would be gentle movement in my body and then a rush of new energy through the nadis. The red, white, black, and Blue lights would come. My meditation would stabilize itself, and sometimes I would pass into a deep tandra trance and would travel to other worlds. I saw everything while sitting in my hut. Every day I had some new experience. My body was becoming light, slim, agile, healthy, and strong. I could see the central nadi, the sushumna, which is silver-colored tinged with gold. It stands like a pillar, and all the nadis receive vibrations of power from it. When a sadhaka is meditating, he sometimes feels a pain in the muladhara, at the base of the spine, which is due to the transmission of Shakti from the sushumna into the other nadis. Sometimes I would have a new movement in the heart, in which an egg-shaped ball of radiance would come into view. This is the vision of the radiant thumb-sized Being, who is described as follows in the Shvetashvatara Upanishad: angusthamatrah puruso’ntaratma sada jananam hridaye sannivistah — ‘The inner soul always dwells in the heart of all men as a thumb-sized being.”

– Extract from Play of Consciousness, Chapter on The Blue Pearl

Not a lot of information, but good enough for me. That day, when I read that chapter, I understood it totally. It made sense to me. And I knew that the rest of the book would shed more light on this and other spiritual experiences.

And that’s exactly what I did. I read the entire book. And I can tell you that it was a real eye opener.

Timotheus Final Thoughts
Flowing Love Meditation

In his book, Play of Consciousness, Swami Muktananda shared his spiritual experiences. And his sharing has helped me tremendously.

It helped me to understand all my spiritual experiences. It felt comforting.

And I supposed, in a way, this book inspired me to teach meditation and also share about meditation and my spiritual experiences. I too hoped that by sharing, others will understand their spiritual experiences, and not be freaked out by them or feel alone in their experiences.

That’s why I created the Flowing Love Meditation website and YouTube channel. And I will continue to keep sharing.
