The pandemic continues, and the world is largely still at lock down. As some countries start to open, I look back at the past weeks when during the Coronavirus Crisis – Good Things That Happened Part 4.
There is good happening all the time around us. We just need to see them.
Over the past weeks, there has been much good happening in this world. In this article, I share just a few.
Bioluminescence On Beaches of Puerto Marquez, Acapulco, Mexico
Previously, there was the story of bioluminescence appearing on California beaches, and dolphins swimming in them appearing in bright neon blue lights.
Now, the same thing is happening on the beaches of Puertor Marquez, Acapulco, Mexico. For the first time in 60 years! There are bioluminescent plankton lighting up the beaches there.
This is a rare phenomenon. It is a by product of a biochemical reaction caused by bioluminescent planktons in the sea.
Some people believed that due to lock down and lack of human activities along the shores, it has encouraged the presence of the plankton.
What do you think?
CEO Gave $1.6 Million To Employees
Larry Connor, CEO of The Connor Group, an Ohio-based real estate investment firm, made a lot of money on the stock market in just 8 days. He decided to give it all to his about 400 employees.
This generous gesture is his way of thanking all his staff who continued to work during the pandemic. The bonuses were between $2,000 to $9,000 to individuals.
Baby Turtles Hatched on Brazilian Beach
Remember the story of the turtles hatching on the beaches in Thailand? The same is happening in Brazil!
More than 400 sea turtles have been born this year on the beach coast in Paulista, a city in the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco. And among them, at least 200 are the hawksbill turtles.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the beaches in Brazil are currently closed. The lack of human activity has encouraged the turtles to lay eggs along the shores.
And now, is the moment the newly hatched turtles crawled on the sands of a desolate beach.
Lions Relax in South Africa
During the coronavirus outbreak, more and more animals are appearing to be adjusting well to a life without humans. In South Africa, a pride of lions were seen enjoying the peace and quiet.
They were lounging on a road. And were not even bothered by the presence of the photographer and park ranger, Richard Sowry.
Richard said that the lions are usually resident on Kempiana Contractual Park, an area Kruger tourists do not see. It is quite a surprise to see them lying on the tar road just outside of Orpen Rest Camp in the hot afternoon sun.
Spectacular Show of Flamingos in Mumbai
Flamingos migrate to Mumbai every year between October and March. This year, an exceptional number has arrived.
There are two types of flamingos – the Greater Flamingos and the Lesser Flamingos. Greater Flamingos are taller and its plumage is more white than pink, Lesser Flamingos are shorter and in color. They are the ones that are more commonly thought of as the flamingo.
According to Bombay Natural History Society, around 150,000 flamingos visited the Mumbai Metropolitan Region this year. The nationwide lock down has resulted in lower pollution and reduced human activities. The improved quality of air and peace and quiet has attracted more flamingos to this region.
Singapore Man Considered Suicide and Crime Due to Covid-19
41 year old Patrick became jobless because of Covid-19. The pandemic has resulted in him losing his job. He had a lack of income and was unable to afford a place to stay. He thought of suicide or even committing a crime so that he could end up on jail where he would have food and somewhere to stay.
In Singapore, the Nee Soon East Community Club staff helped him to find a new job and temporary accommodations. He is now hard at work and building a new life.
Herd of Dugongs Appear Off Coast of Thailand
There are so many sea life returning. Previously, there were turtles returning to nest on the shores of Thailand.
Recently, a herd of endangered Dugongs were sighted along the shallow coasts of Thailand. It seems the coronavirus lock down has stopped visitors to those areas. As such, they have the entire beach to swim in privacy.
Dugongs are gentle herbivores. They were hunted close to extinction. Today, human intervention and pollution has driven them away from the shores. So, it is very good to see them again.
Let us all keep thinking positive thoughts with visualization of a world where everyone is healthy and happy.
